I enjoyed reading this book; it was a short, fast read. Kate is a young girl that is struggling with her recent diagnosis of diabetes. This is incredibly difficult for most people because they often have to drastically change the way they eat. I've had a few friends and a brother-in-law that have diabetes, and I've seen how it can affect a person's life. It took quite a few serious events for Kate to finally realize the dangers of uncontrolled diabetes. I also really liked Aidan; he is a young kid facing what so many young veterans are facing today. They don't expect their career in the military to get cut so short, and often don't know what to do when it is. In addition, they struggle with daily tasks whether it is because they are now physically disabled, or suffer from mental illnesses as a result of their experiences. I like that this book touched upon such serious issues; it opens up people's eyes to the struggles individuals in these situations face.
